A girl in Jaipur attempted suicide after alleging that she was molested by two policemen inside a police station. The girl was called to the police station for questioning in another case on January 23 where she was allegedly molested by some Rajasthan Police personnel. Her father said that the she had been called by the police as a witness in some case.
"They called the girl in as a witness and then molested her. They forced her to do horrible things after assuring me that she was safe. This is completely unacceptable," said the victim's father.
The case came to light when the girl tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train seriously injuring herself.
The Station House Officer of the police station and a constable have been suspended and a case registered. She hurt her spinal cord and risks being permanently disabled.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has handed over the case to CID after some women's rights groups took up the case and launched protests.
