The Dell Streak, although a little behind in hardware since its launch last year was always at a very high price to be grabbed by India's young and emerging Android market. But with its large 5-inch high resolution screen, the phone was very uniquely positioned between smartphones that feature smaller 3-4 inch screens and larger tablet PC with 7-9 inch screens.
Positioned as both, a phone and a tablet, Dell hopes that the Streak will still make a convincing buy for those looking to bridge the smartphone-tablet divide. While the single core 1GHz Snapdragon and Android 2.2 operating system aren't the latest in market, the phone features Gorilla Glass for its 5-inch display, a 5MP camera with a front facing VGA camera capable of 720p HD video which are quite fresh compared to many other devices.
If this doesn't sound sweet enough, Dell is also planning to bring the Streak 7 to India. Showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show is Las Vegas recently, the Streak 7 will come with Android 2.2 out of the box, features a front facing 1.3-megapixel camera, 16GB of internal memory, nVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 5MP primary camera and a larger 7-inch display.
With all other tablet manufacturers going from 7-inch models to 10-inch, Dell's slow rise to seven inch means they want to keep their gadgets pocket friendly- although seven-inch is a tad too big to pocket.
