LOOK BETTER, TOMORROW

Here?s how you can look 80% better when you step out of the house tomorrow, without breaking the bank.

If you spend most of your time standing in front of your cupboard trying to decide what to wear, and then no time at all on other aspects because you suddenly realize how late you are, you are making a mistake. Choosing clothes is only halfway to getting ready. The best habit you can have and teach your daughter to have is to select clothes before going to bed.

Sleep

Get a minimum of eight hours of sleep. Most parents go to bed late and wake up early the next morning to get their kids ready on time. If you have an early morning tomorrow, go to bed early tonight. Getting adequate sleep makes you healthier, boosts immunity, and keeps you looking younger for longer. It also gets rid of those dark circles, and keeps your skin looking fresh. So make sure you get your beauty sleep. And no, you cannot bank sleep. Don?t think you can get away with sleeping four hours every night, and then ?catch up? by spending the entire weekend in bed. Sure, sleeping longer when you have the time help a little, but it is not adequate compensation for those hours of missed sleep. But when you wake up after eight to nine hours of sound sleep, you will wake up looking bright and fresh.

Hair

If you have fabulous hair that just falls perfectly the minute you pull out your hair band, count yourself lucky. But most of us are not that fortunate and need to spend time on our hair. Beat a couple of eggs and apply to your hair. Wash off with cold water after half an hour. Your hair will shine. If your hair is dry, always apply a leave-in conditioner. Spend time styling your hair so it looks great not just on a special occasion, but all the time. Practice different styles to figure out what looks good on you and what doesn?t. Experiment, experiment!

Brows

Pluck any stray hair on your brows after showering.

Face

Cleanse your face thoroughly and then splash it around twenty times with ice cold water. If your tap water is not very cold then put a few ice cubes in a mug of water and splash your face with this water. Doing this will close your pores, tighten skin, increase circulation, bring a glow to your face and redness to your cheeks. You should ideally do this before styling your hair so your hair does not get wet. Do your make-up as usual, and apply a little rouge to the apple of your cheeks for a healthy, flushed look.

Clothes

An easy and very effective way to make your wardrobe look well coordinated is to simply purchase a mid-sized flat, artificial flower to match any colour that stands out in your wardrobe. So if you have a lot of pink, pick up a matching pink artificial flower. Pull out the stem and tuck in a safety pin. You can now pin the flower anywhere! So if you are wearing a pink shirt but don?t have a pink bag to match, simply pin the pink flower to your regular black bag and voila! Instant transformation! You can pin it up and dress up any old top, pin it to your jeans, your skirt, belt or shoes.
