THE BARE NECESSITIES

Ever wonder why although you spend a lot of money on clothes, you don't always feel that you look just right? Here's help.

Fifty percent of your looks center on the way you carry yourself. If you slouch, understand that no matter how pretty your face may be, you will not come across as striking. You want to be able to walk into a party with your husband and give people the impression that you are a smart person with an attractive personality. So we've said it once and we're saying it again - don't slouch.

Most of us spend all our energy on trying to make our faces look good, and then just grab the first thing in the closet and put it on. Pay more attention to your wardrobe. Shopping smart means that you don't need to have as much to look as good.

Must-haves

Bras

Stock up on a few basics. Ill-fitting bras will make you feel conscious and uncomfortable. Often, tee-shirts stretch tight over ill-fitting bras, and the creases in the bras ruin the fall of the t-shirt making it look tacky. Thus, padded bras are a great option as your clothes fall smoothly over your bra. If you are big-breasted and would rather not wear padded bras, wear seamless, plain ones with tight clothes.

Camisoles

Invest in 2 basic camisoles (spaghetti tops) - a black one and a white one. You can wear these under almost anything transparent, and they are great for wearing under all your kurtis. For a varied and semi-formal look, you can wear them under a well-fitted shirt and leave the shirt open.

White shirt

Nothing looks as cool and crisp on a hot summer day than a crisp white shirt. True, a white t-shirt looks great as well, but a white shirt can be worn casually with a pair of jeans, formally to the office with trousers, and out for a lunch with friends, open, with a camisole under, so it is much more versatile.

Black trousers and a black jacket

A pair of basic, sleek black trousers is a must. These can be worn almost anywhere - to the office, to a party, to a dinner, or even casually. If you don't work in an office that requires formal attire or if you are a housewife, you can skip the black jacket.

Scarf

Keep it small, and in a sensible colour; it shouldn't be too bright. A neutral blue or maroon is best, since you can use it to break the monotony of your more basic outfits and smarten them up instantly.

Shoes

Never wear worn out shoes. Keep your wardrobe to a minimum and replace worn out shoes regularly.

Stop obsessing with your individual features. Instead of wishing you had fairer skin, bigger eyes, a better nose, thicker lips, start working on making your skin clear, healthy and glowing. Make sure you are always well-groomed. Never let your upper-lip grow, make sure you thread your eyebrows regularly, and wear make-up to enhance your features.

Remember that you don't need to dress on the cutting edge of fashion, unless money is no object. If you are on a budget, it is best to have a smaller wardrobe with classy, basic pieces that you can repeat in various ways. In this way you will always look smart and well turned out.

LOOK BETTER, TOMORROW

Here?s how you can look 80% better when you step out of the house tomorrow, without breaking the bank.

If you spend most of your time standing in front of your cupboard trying to decide what to wear, and then no time at all on other aspects because you suddenly realize how late you are, you are making a mistake. Choosing clothes is only halfway to getting ready. The best habit you can have and teach your daughter to have is to select clothes before going to bed.

Sleep

Get a minimum of eight hours of sleep. Most parents go to bed late and wake up early the next morning to get their kids ready on time. If you have an early morning tomorrow, go to bed early tonight. Getting adequate sleep makes you healthier, boosts immunity, and keeps you looking younger for longer. It also gets rid of those dark circles, and keeps your skin looking fresh. So make sure you get your beauty sleep. And no, you cannot bank sleep. Don?t think you can get away with sleeping four hours every night, and then ?catch up? by spending the entire weekend in bed. Sure, sleeping longer when you have the time help a little, but it is not adequate compensation for those hours of missed sleep. But when you wake up after eight to nine hours of sound sleep, you will wake up looking bright and fresh.

Hair

If you have fabulous hair that just falls perfectly the minute you pull out your hair band, count yourself lucky. But most of us are not that fortunate and need to spend time on our hair. Beat a couple of eggs and apply to your hair. Wash off with cold water after half an hour. Your hair will shine. If your hair is dry, always apply a leave-in conditioner. Spend time styling your hair so it looks great not just on a special occasion, but all the time. Practice different styles to figure out what looks good on you and what doesn?t. Experiment, experiment!

Brows

Pluck any stray hair on your brows after showering.

Face

Cleanse your face thoroughly and then splash it around twenty times with ice cold water. If your tap water is not very cold then put a few ice cubes in a mug of water and splash your face with this water. Doing this will close your pores, tighten skin, increase circulation, bring a glow to your face and redness to your cheeks. You should ideally do this before styling your hair so your hair does not get wet. Do your make-up as usual, and apply a little rouge to the apple of your cheeks for a healthy, flushed look.

Clothes

An easy and very effective way to make your wardrobe look well coordinated is to simply purchase a mid-sized flat, artificial flower to match any colour that stands out in your wardrobe. So if you have a lot of pink, pick up a matching pink artificial flower. Pull out the stem and tuck in a safety pin. You can now pin the flower anywhere! So if you are wearing a pink shirt but don?t have a pink bag to match, simply pin the pink flower to your regular black bag and voila! Instant transformation! You can pin it up and dress up any old top, pin it to your jeans, your skirt, belt or shoes.

Your horse called up

man was sitting reading his paper when his wife hit him round the head
with a frying pan.

"What was that for?" the man asked. The wife replied "That was for the
piece of paper with the name Jenny on it that I found in your pants
pocket".

The man said "When I was at the races last week, Jenny was the name of
the horse I bet on"

The wife apologized and went on with the housework.

Three days later the man is watching TV when his wife bashes him on the
head with an even bigger frying pan, knocking him unconscious.

Upon re-gaining consciousness the man asked why she had hit again.

"Your horse called up"

Club 99

Once upon a time, there lived a King who, despite his luxurious lifestyle, was neither happy nor content.

One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while he worked. This fascinated the King; why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while

A lowly servant had so much joy. The King asked the servant, " Why are you so happy?"

The man replied, " Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don't need too much - just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies."

The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the King's woes and the servant's story, the advisor said, " Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club."

"The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired.

The advisor replied, " Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club is, place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant's doorstep."

When the servant saw the bag, he took it into his house. When he opened the bag, he let out a great shout of joy... So many gold coins!

He began to count them. After several counts, he was at last convinced that there were 99 coins. He wondered, " What could've happened to that last gold coin? Surely, no one would leave 99 coins! "

He looked everywhere he could, but that final coin was elusive. Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work harder than ever to earn that gold coin and complete his collection.

From that day, the servant's life was changed. He was overworked, horribly grumpy, and castigated his family for not helping him make that 100th gold coin. He stopped singing while he worked.

Witnessing this drastic transformation, the King was puzzled. When he sought his advisor's help, the advisor said, " Your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club. "

He continued, " The 99 Club is a name given to those people who have enough to be happy but are never contented, because they're always yearning and striving for that extra 1 telling to themselves: "Let me get that one final thing and then I will be happy for life ."

We can be happy, even with very little in our lives, but the minute we're given something bigger and better, we want even more! We lose our sleep, our happiness, we hurt the people around us; all these as a price for our growing needs and desires. That's what joining The 99 Club is all about."

You hold my hand

Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The father was kind
of scared so he asked his little daughter, "Sweetheart, please hold my
hand so that you don't fall into the river."

The little girl said, "No, Dad. You hold my hand."

"What's the difference?" Asked the puzzled father.

"There's a big difference," replied the little girl.

"If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may
let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no
matter what happens, you will never let my hand go."

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its
bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than expecting
