Yuta Ikeda climbed into a two-stroke lead at the Dunlop Phoenix after carding a second-round five-under-par 65. The 24-year-old hit five birdies without dropping a shot at Phoenix Country Club to move onto nine under 133 for the tournament.
South Korean Kim Do-hoon stormed up the leaderboard into second place following a seven-under 64 while defending champion Edoardo Molinari was five shots behind Ikeda in a share of fifth after signing for a 68.
Ryo Ishikawa improved following a disappointing opening round with a 70, carding four birdies against a bogey and a double bogey.
The 19-year-old, who shot a 75 yesterday, is tied 49th at three over with Tom Watson, who shot a 74.
