With Yvan Muller having already sewn up the drivers' title for Chevrolet a memorable season was sealed when the Frenchman trailed home team-mate Rob Huff in a one-two to seal the team title in today's opening race.
Huff's success, his third of the season, moved him into second place in the drivers' standings going into the final race.
But the Briton relinquished that position to Gabriele Tarquini after finishing third in the second race, leaving him level on points with with the Italian but behind him due to his inferior number of race wins.
Young Hungarian driver Norbert Michelisz won the second race to secure his first ever WTCC race win on the same day he also secured the Rookie Challenge.
Huff began the opening race on pole and led all the way from Muller to seal Chevrolet's manufacturers' title with a race in hand.
It also moved the Briton into second place in the drivers' charts as the three-way battle with Tarquini and Andy Priaulx went down to the final race of the season.
Muller let his team-mate through early to allow Huff to attack Tarquini, but the SEAT driver held off the Briton's late charge to claim second and just enough points to replace him in the drivers' standings.
