CWG Scam: Never blocked CBI, Kalmadi

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi has hit out at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and claimed that he never obstructed investigations into the alleged cases of irregularities and corruption related to the Games.
Kalmadi on Wednesday claimed that he never asked anyone to dump documents related to the Games.
CNN-IBN had accessed copy of a letter sent by Kalmadi on December 20, 2010 to all functional heads of the Organising Committee to cooperate with the CBI.

Kalmadi even wrote to the CBI Director AP Singh on December 21 extending all possible cooperation

CBI sources had claimed on Tuesday that Kalmadi had asked all functional heads to dump all files of their concerns areas and wind up operations.

The CBI Director had also claimed that Kalmadi and Commonwealth Games Organising Committee General Secretary Lalit Bhanot were obstructing investigations into the scam. The CBI also wanted the duo to be removed from the Organising Committee.

Kalmadi's offices and residences in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune have already been raided by the CBI in connection with the Commonwealth Games scam.
