2G Scam: Sharad Pawar is in danger on family links with DB group

NCP chief Sharad Pawar so far has denied having links with 2G tainted company DB Realty and its promoter Vinod Goenka.
But an investigation by IBN Lokmat has revelaed how Sharad Pawar's nephew and Maharshtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had allotted cheap government land to a company he had stakes in.
The investigation also reveals Pawar family's business links with their friend Vinod Goenka.

Sharad Pawar had earlier denied those links by saying, "I want to make it clear that neither me nor anybody from my family has any interest in the DB Realty, so all the perceptions about it are far from reality and totally a lie."

But after the IBN Lokmat expose, Sharad Pawar is finding himself in trouble.

His nephew Ajit Pawar is being accused of giving government land to AG Mercantile, a private firm, in which Vinod Goenka is a director and Ajit Pawar is a majority stake holder.

When confronted, Sharad Pawar said, "Ask Ajit, he is in Assembly."

Making matters worse for Sharad Pawar are the documents, exclusively accessed by CNN-IBN, which revealed that even Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule has business links with Vinod Goenka.

According to the document, Pune Based Mukund Bhavan Trust sold 26000 square metres at Rs 7 crore to Supriya Sule's Panchsheel Technology Park. Vinod Goenka is a representative of this trust.

But the registrar of company affairs website shows Sule's company as actually owning over 92000 square metres of land. So the question is, who does this extra land belong to?

It now turns out that Vinod Goenka-Shahid Balwa owned DB Realty, a group under the scanner in 2G scam, is building a five star resort on Supriya Sule's land.

The Opposition BJP has demanded Pawar's head. "The allegations need to be probed," said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

Pawar's links with the Goenkas appear to be limited not just to the Maratha strong man but to his daughter and nephew as well. While the UPA isn't batting for Pawar at the moment, it needs to be seen, with the anti corruption mood prevailing at the moment, if Sharad Pawar's NCP would be the next liability in the Government camp.
