The court said, "You say different agencies are looking into the issue. Till now what these agencies were doing? Are they sleeping?"
The court also pulled up the government for focusing only on Hasan Ali, the flamboyant businessman from Pune who is accused of collecting upto 8 billion dollars of black money in Swiss bank accounts. "Only one person on this country has an account in Switzerland. No other Indian has an account? You are working from 2009. What information do you have?" asked the court.
Mr Ali was arrested last month and since then has been extensively interrogated, largely at the Supreme Court's insistence, about money-laundering and possible links to international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi and terrorist networks.
The court today reiterated its concern that black money is being earned from drug trafficking and terrorist activities.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court asking for the government to be held accountable for recovering black money.
