Tata Motors, 25% Jump
Auto major Tata Motors reported a 10.96 per cent jump in total sales in March to 83,363 units, as against 75,129 units in the same month last year.
For the entire 2010-11 fiscal, the company posted a 25 per cent jump in total sales to 8,03,322 units, as against 6,42,664 units, Tata Motors said in a statement.
In March, the homegrown firm registered a marginal fall in its passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market to 27,678 units from 27,760 units in the same period last year, it added.
Its total exports in March jumped by 44.51 per cent to 5,932 units from 4,105 units in the same month last year.
The 'Indica' range reported sales of 6,937 units, down 40 per cent. The 'Indigo' family, with sales of 7,197 units, witnessed a dip of 5 per cent vis-a-vis the same month last year. The 'Sumo', 'Safari' and 'Aria' models accounted for sales of 4,837 units, a jump of 24 per cent compared to March last year.
Its small car Nano's sales soared by 85 per cent to 8,707 units during March.
In the commercial vehicles segment, Tata Motors recorded a 15 per cent jump in domestic sales in March to 49,753 units, compared to 43,264 units in the same month last year.
Light commercial vehicles sales during the month stood at 26,416 units, up 18 per cent, while medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales stood at 23,337 units, a jump of 12 per cent compared to March, 2010.
For 2010-11, the passenger vehicle sales stood at 2,98,496 units, the highest for the company so far with a growth of 27.06 per cent over 2,34,929 units in the previous fiscal, the statement said.
The company registered its highest commercial vehicles cumulative sales in the domestic market in the fiscal at 4,46,782 units, an increase of 20 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
Exports during the previous fiscal grew by 70.01 per cent to 58,044 units from 34,141 units.
Hyundai Motor India
The country's second-largest carmaker Hyundai Motor India today reported a marginal rise in its total sales for March at 55,552 units.
The company had sold 55,027 units in the year-ago period, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said in a statement.
In the domestic market, the company's sales increased 1.02% to 31,822 units from 31,501 units in same month last year, it added.
Exports of the company also marginally increased to 23,730 units from 23,526 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
"With rising interest rates and increasing prices due to higher input costs the market is less buoyant than what it was last year," HMIL Director (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said.
The company's sales grew over the year-ago period despite the rate slowed down, he added.
In its A2 segment (Santro, i10 and i20), the company sold 50,488 units, while in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna) sales were at 4,920 units.
The A5 segment (Sonata Transform) of HMIL witnessed sales of 23 units, while its new SUV Santa Fe received 121 buyers during the month.
Maruti Suzuki, Jumps 24.8%
The country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has reported a 28.2 per cent jump in total sales to 1,21,952 units during March this year from 95,123 units in the same month last year.
For the entire 2010-11 financial year, the company's sales soared by 24.81 per cent to 12,71,005 units from 10,18,365 units in the previous fiscal, Maruti Suzuki India said in a statement today.
During March 2011, the company reported an increase of 38.85 per cent in domestic sales to 1,10,424 units from 79,530 units in March 2010. Exports, however, fell by 26.07 per cent to 11,528 units from 15,593 units.
Sales of the company's once bread-and-butter model M800 rose 5.54 per cent to 2,915 units from 2,762 units, the statement said.
The A2 segment (comprising Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) witnessed 43.27 per cent growth in sales to 78,460 units during March this year from 54,762 units in the same month a year ago. A3 segment sales (consisting of SX4 and DZiRE) increased by 33.07 per cent to 13,910 units from 10,453 units.
Last month, the company sold 103 units of its Kizashi luxury sedan, which was launched in February.
Total passenger car sales rose 40.32 per cent to 95,388 units in March 2011 from 67,978 units in the same month in 2010.
During the 2010-11 fiscal, Maruti's domestic sales increased by 30.08 per cent to 11,32,739 from 8,70,790 units in the previous fiscal, the company said.
Exports during the fiscal, however, declined by 6.31 per cent to 1,38,266 units from 1,47,575 units in 2009-10. Total passenger car sales stood at 9,66,447 units (7,65,533 units), up 26.24 per cent.
Toyota Kirloskar
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has reported its highest-ever monthly sales in March at 9,726 units, registering a 40.73 per cent jump over the same month last year.
The company sold 6,911 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said in a statement today.
TKM, a joint venture between the world's largest carmaker Toyota and the Kirloskar Group, attributed the growth to healthy sales of its latest sedan Etios.
"We have sold 9,726 units last month, our highest-ever sales. We would like to thank all our customers for their response," the company Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), Mr Sandeep Singh, said.
The company sold 3,257 units in March 2011. It has received 29,796 booking orders so far since its launch last year.
Volvo Eicher
Auto-maker VE Commercial Vehicles today said it recorded a 32.8% jump in total monthly sales to 5,065 units in March.
The joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors had sold 3,814 units in the same month of the previous year, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) said in a statement.
Domestic sales in March last year increased to 4,722 units from 3,649 units in the same month a year ago, a jump of 29.41%, the company added.
Exports for the month also soared over two-fold to 343 units from 165 units in March, 2010.
Sales of light commercial vehicles in the Indian market went up by 22.76% to 3,263 units during the month from 2,658 units in March, 2010.
Heavy commercial vehicle sales recorded a 57.58% jump to 769 units last month from 488 units in the year-ago period, it added.
