Toyota recalls 54,000 Tundra trucks in US and Canada for drive shaft failure

Troubled carmaker Toyota today announced the recall of 54,000 Tundra trucks in the United States and Canada due to a faulty drive shaft.
"The rear drive shaft in an estimated 0.05 per cent of the vehicles may include a component (slip yoke) that could break due to improper casting during the foundry process," Toyota said in a statement.

Toyota said it is aware of one drive shaft failure as a result of the defect, but is not aware of any related accidents or injuries.

The recall affects 2011 model year Tundra trucks.

Inspections and any necessary repairs will be conducted free of charge.
