School teacher arrested for molesting school student

A teacher of a government middle school was thrashed by a mob of villagers after a student alleged that he tried to molest her. The incident took place at Kasba village under the Mehndiganj police station area in the Patna City subdivision on Wednesday.

Police said the Class III girl on her return from the school complained to her mother Malti Devi that schoolteacher Ashwini Kumar molested her. A furious Malti along with neighbours reached the school and the mob assaulted the teacher before locking him up in a classroom.

Police later reached the spot and rescued the teacher. He was taken to the local police station.

The locals then blocked the main road for over two hours. Police had to use mild force to disperse the agitators.

Patna City SDPO Sushil Kumar said both sides lodged FIRs in this connection. The teacher has been arrested.
