UP cabinet secretary denies Rahul Gandhi's allegation of rape and murder

UP cabinet secretary Shahshank Shekhar Singh, while addressing a press conference on behalf of chief minister Mayawati, rubbished Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's allegation of rape and murder at Bhatta-Parsaul in Gautam Budh Nagar.

He said that forensic tests show that mounds of ashes in the village, in which Rahul Gandhi alleged dead bodies were dumped and set afire, were of cow dung cakes and some plastic material. The test reports of the samples show that there were no human remains or bones in the ashes. Whether there was any explosive or not will be clear in a few days as it requires some more tests, he added.

"The Chief minister has also denied that any incident of rape took place at Bhatta-Parsaul. It is an imagination of Congress party," Singh said.

He also said that only four persons, two policemen and two villages, were killed on May 7 in violent clashes at Bhatta-Parsaul, contrary to the claims made by the opposition political parties that people were murdered and burnt by the police in the village. He also said that there is no issue of land acquisition at Bhatta-Parsaul because acquisition was done in 2009 after signing an agreement with the farmers. "Few anti-social elements are instigating gullible farmers at the behest of opposition parties," Singh added.

The UP cabinet secretary said that the chief minister has said that she failed to understand why an incident in which some anti-social elements used illegal fire arms to kill policemen is being called farmer's agitation. "Opposition parties are trying to protect anti-social elements who instigated farmers and created a law and order situation by clashing with the police in the name of farmer's agitation. Section 144 has been imposed at Bhatta-Parsaul to prevent outsiders from coming and disturbing peace in the area. The section 144 was lifted earlier but Congress general secretary used the opportunity to create trouble in the area", Singh said, quoting the chief minister.

Singh also said that the chief minister has asked Congress party not to indulge in cheap politics at Bhatta-Parsaul and focus on resolving farmer agitation against land acquisition in Jaitpur in Maharashtra. The chief minister has said that all allegations leveled about corruption in UP under her regime by the Congress are baseless, whereas scams like CWG and 2G which have taken place under Congress led UPA government have tarnished the image of the country, he added. Singh said that the chief minister has asked UPA government to follow the orders of the Supreme Court and work to bring back millions of black money stashed in foreign banks.

Singh said that Mayawati has also drawn attention towards the fact that top BSP leaders Kanshiram and she herself have never promoted their family and relatives in politics, whereas Congress believes on dynasty rule, nepotism and favouritism. Singh said that chief minister Mayawati has also cited example that during her regime in UP so far, she has sent several MLAs, MPs and ministers of her own party to jail for their involvement in alleged criminal and corrupt activities, whereas Congress-led government at the centre has been trying to protect the politicians and officers accused in the Adarsh housing society, CWG and 2G scams.

Shahshank Shekhar Singh said that the chief minister has also rubbished the allegations of corruption and breakdown of law and order in UP leveled by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in her speech at Congress's convention in Varanasi on Thursday evening. "The Chief minister has said that Congress ruled the state for 38 years but did nothing. Congress used dalits, backwards and Muslims only as votebank for years but did not work to uplift their status. The BSP was formed by late Kanshiram to uplift the marginalised section of the society. Had Congress worked for the people, there would have been no need to form BSP," said Singh, quoting Mayawati.
