1st Match CSK Vs KKR: CSK won by 2 runs in a thriller of the opening match

CSK won the match superbly by 3 runs. Good show by the Yellow men under pressure.

Shukla sends the first ball to boundary line and Tiwary hits two consecutive sixes to turn the completely to KKR's way. Dhoni move backfires. The impatient Tiwary got stumped in the last over of the over by steping out to charge Randiv.

Jacques Kallis and Manvinder Bisla got Kolkata Knight Riders off to a flying start chasing 154 to win as the duo took on the opposition bowlers from the word go in the inaugural match of IPL-4.

The things got changed when Jakati got Bisla stumped by Dhoni for 27 of 29 balls. Income the blistering Yousuf, who sends Jakati for whooping six over long on at his great style.

Meanwhile Kallis got his half century in 37 balls sending 7 balls to the ropes. But when looks like KKR settled to win, Ashwin magic comes to end the great innings of Kallis, who handed a catch to Badrinath on 54 and KKR lose 3rd wicket for 112 and needing 42 from 28 balls.

To a surprise Morgan has been sent and still no Gambhir and he gifted his wicket to Raina with stumped by CSK skipper Dhoni. And the much expected Gambhir just faced two balls and has been sent out by a superb fielding on a over throw and direct hit by Scott Styris. The brief Raina over got two big wickets of Gambhir and Morgan which turns the game to CSK way.

Southee came to bowl the last over when KKR needs only 9 runs to taste the victory. But there was a twister he sends back the Shuckla in the second ball caught to Styris in the third man area.

Earlier Anirudha Srikkanth smashed a superb 64 to help Chennai Super Kings post a decent score of 153. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni supported him well with brilliant cameos.

Earlier winning the toss and electing to bat Chennai Super Kings got off to a worst possible start when they lost opener Murali Vijay in the very first over for just four when he was caught in the mid on by Rajat Bhatia of the bowling off Iqbal Abdulla.

Then coming at his usual poistion Suresh Raina was dropped early on by Yusuf Pathan who also dropped Srikkanth when he was finding the touch with the bat.

Raina along with Aniruda Srikkanth steadied the Chennai's innings with some brisk run making as the duo shared 75 runs stand between them. Raine then departed trying to go for the full monty and was caught in the deep by Sarabjit Ladda on the bowling of Yusuf Pathan.

On the other end Srikkanth was was looking in-form when he slammed bowlers all over the park. He was jioned in the middle by India's World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni.

Raina's wicket slowed down the things and despite a six each from Dhoni and Anirudha off an over from legspinner Sarajbit Ladda, only 43 came off six overs.

Chennai needed some big hits towards the end, but smart bowling from L Balaji and Kallis kept the runs in check. Albie Morkel showed off his strength hitting down the ground, slamming a four and a six off the final tow deliveries to lift the score past 150.
