Golf: McIlroy makes record in a wrong things

Rory McIlroy is the third 54-hole leader in the last four majors to fail to break 80 in the final round

2010 US OPEN - Dustin Johnson is three clear of the field at Pebble Beach, but triple bogeys the second hole and double bogeys the third. He drops to eighth with an 82 and Graeme McDowell's 74 proves good enough to win.

2010 US PGA - Nick Watney is 13 under after three rounds and three in front of Johnson and Rory McIlroy. He slumps to 18th with an 81 while Martin Kaymer beats Bubba Watson in a play-off.
2011 MASTERS - McIlroy is four clear on 12 under and crashes to an 80 that leaves him tied for 15th, a massive 10 strokes behind Charl Schwartzel.

The last time anybody lost a bigger lead on the final day of a major was Jean Van de Velde, five ahead and beaten in a play-off for the 1999 Open.
