IPL 4: Match No.10, PW vs KTK, Monish Mishra and Uthappa heroics earn second win for Pune warriors

Pune Warriors 151 for 6 (Mishra 37*) beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala 148 for 8 (Jadeja 47, Hodge 39, Parnell 3-35) by four wickets

Mohnish Mishra smashed an unbeaten 37 of 21 balls to steer Pune Warriors India to a hard fought win over Kochi Tuskers Kerala in game 10 of IPL-4 at Mumbai on Wednesday.

Earlier, a needless reverse sweep by Robin Uthappa followed by Wayne Parnell's run out allowed Kochi Tuskers the chance to cause a major upset against the Pune Warriors.

Pune lost back to back wickets of Mithun Minhas and skipper Yuvraj Singh as Kochi fought back into the contest.

Graeme Smith hit a full toss straight down the throat of RP Singh as Pune lost their third wicket.

Vinay Kumar took a brilliant juggling catch to dismiss Jesse Ryder and provide Kochi with their first breakthrough.

Ravindra Jadeja scored 47 valuable runs and Brad Hodge made 39 as Kochi recovered from a disastrous start to reach a respectable total of 148/8.

Kochi lost wickets regularly towards the end of their innings after Jadeja and Hodge put on 88 runs for the 5th wicket.

Wayne Parnell grabbed three wickets and Alfonso Thomas chipped in with one as Kochi got off to a disastrous start.

While Pune Warriors comfortably beat Kings XI Punjab by 7 wickets in their opening fixture, Kochi Tuskers Kerala went down to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in their first match of the competition.

Presentation:

Mohnish Mishra is the Man of the Match: "I am happy with No 6, it is a challenge for me to bat at this position. It was tough after Robin's dismissal, I thought I would stay till the end. The sweep shot is on against the offspinner, I went for it and got it. I had not faced Murali much but watched him closely and went for it."

Yuvraj Singh: "Partnership between Hodge and Jadeja got them to a good total. Robin and Mohnish played well. We could have bowled and fielded well, but we won at the end of the day. Mohnish keeps telling me that he wants to open, but I tell him he is a good No 6, and he is going to be at No 6 from now on."

Mahela Jayawardene: "From where we started, losing 3-4 wickets upfront, we came back strongly, but could not finish the game. We have to ensure we do that. T20 cricket, you have to do that, one or two overs here or there, and you lose a game. We had a chance after Robin;s dismissal. Just the beginning of the tournament, we need not go negative about how it has gone so far."
