Nokia’s Push e-Mail Service banned in India

After BlackBerry, the Finnish company Nokia is under scanner now for its push email services. The government of India has banned the Nokia's proposed push email service until it gets a legal monitoring system.

The Department of Telecom has been directed by the Indian government to not allow the company to launch its proposed push email or power email service till the company gets its monitoring facility. Till now, there are no reports of any deadlines imposed by the government to Nokia.

The Indian government had earlier imposed ban on select BlackBerry services citing security reasons. Indian security agencies were finding it difficult to understand the deeply encrypted data from BlackBerry.

BlackBerry was given several deadlines earlier. However, the matter still remains unsolved as the company has not been able to provide satisfactory solution to intercept those messages. Now, the company is reportedly given March 31, 2011 as the deadline.
