Badminton: Saina asked to furnish medical proof

Saina Nehwal has been asked by the International Badminton Federation to furnish documents regarding her ligament injury.
The Indian badminton ace had earlier skipped this month's Indian Open Grand Prix in Hyderabad because of the injury which she sustained during the Hong Kong Super Series final.

"Yes, we have received a letter from IBF and we forwarded it to Sania. It is not a big deal, it is just a general procedure followed by IBF," Badminton Federation of India joint secretary Punnaiah Choudhary said.

Saina's father, Harvir Singh, also confirmed the development and said they would be sending all the medical reports to IBF on Saturday.

"Yesterday, we sent a letter to IBF through BAI informing them that she (Saina) won't be able to participate in the event because of the injury. The IBF accepted the letter and sent a reply today asking for medical proofs regarding the injury.

"So, we will be sending all her scanned medical documents to IBF on Saturday," he said.

Saina had participated in the last two editions of the tournament.
