Reliance Communication starting 3G services

Reliance Communications (RCom) , India's second largest mobile phone operator, said on Monday it is starting third-generation (3G) mobile services in four cities and would cover all its 13 zones by the end of March next year.

RCom, controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani, won rights in an auction this year to provide the premium services in 13 of India's 22 telecoms zones.

RCom said in a statement it was targeting a national footprint of 3G services through associations with other "like minded, quality 3G licensees" in the remaining nine telecoms zones during the course of next year.
