Two education department officials - district education officer Mahesh Chandra Patel and district education superintendent Anil Kumar - were suspended on the charge of organising an obscene dance programme at a government office at Motihari in East Champaran district. Principal secretary, human resource development (HRD), Anjani Kumar Singh said on Thursday the inquiry by East Champaran DM Abhijit Sinha confirmed the charges against the two officials who were instrumental behind organising the dance programme on the occasion of Holi.
"We have suspended the two with immediate effect," he said.
On Wednesday, this matter was raised in the state assembly when a member stated during zero hour that the education officials brought bar girls and organized a dance programme in government office premises.
Later, HRD minister P K Shahi phoned the HRD principal secretary and directed him to get the matter probed and take action against the erring officials.
