Addressing a programme of Tata Workers Union here yesterday, Mr Tata said he will retire next year, and there is no scope of reviewing his decision.
He said he himself set the retirement age of 75 years, and cannot break it.
Mr Tata, who will be 75 years old next year, said he will be in touch with the Tata Group and continue to serve the nation.
Some of the members of the workers union requested Mr Tata, who was in the town to take part in the 172nd birth anniversary of Tata Group founder Jamshedji Tata, to rethink his retirement decision.
