Suzuki Kizashi is ready for launch in February 2011

The fact that almost the entire portfolio of India's biggest car maker rests in the sub-Rs 10 lakh price bracket goes to say a lot about our automotive preferences and culture. Gargantuan successes in this space have given Maruti Suzuki its 45-percent market share – almost unbelievable in a free market economy. Rising aspirations have however meant that old and faithful Maruti customers have had to move on to larger cars with more substance and stature, and into segments where India's most trusted car brand does not have representation.

The demand shall be served shortly as Maruti Suzuki gears up to launch the Kizashi in India. Created to appeal to the sedan-happy US and Australian markets, the new sedan banks on its great looks from the outside, and very well appointed interiors to distinguish itself from its competition.

The Kizashi will also bring a dash of sportiness to the luxury segment, with its 2.4-litre petrol engine that is capable of putting out 185 bhp and 230Nm of torque. With an additional four-wheel drive option and standard Suzuki sharpness, the Kizashi has been reported as a stunning handler and a great performer.

The car is ready for launch in February 2011, and given that Maruti will need to import this baby straight from Japan, expect the pricing to lie between Rs 15 -17 lakh. Nevertheless, the Kizashi is set to shake up the comfort zone of the Skoda Laura, the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. Watch this space for more!
