The current edition of the World Cup saw The Netherlands and Ireland coming up with spirited performances to prove Associate members of the ICC can't be treated as pushovers.
Though Kenya and Canada, in Group A, have not come up with a better performance, the Dutch and Iresh players in Group B have enough arsenal in their weaponry that could raise the eyebrows of the regular members and upset the apple cart of their formidable opponents in the group.
India, England, South Africa, the West Indies and Bangladesh are the others in the Group.
Ireland came up with some surprise performances in the 2007 edition of the World Cup defeating Bangladesh and Pakistan.
In this World Cup also, they restricted Bangladesh to 205 but lost the match by 27 runs in the 45th over.
The minnows rose to the occasion last night at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and created a run riot that paled the exiting tied match between England and India held on February 27.
