Assam accidents kills 30 and many injured

At least 30 people have been killed and many more are said to have suffered serious injuries in two separate bus accidents in Assam today. (See Pics)

The first accident happened when a bus carrying a wedding party fell into a gorge in Hajo in Kamrup district.

Thirty people, including the bridegroom, have been confirmed killed in this accident. The toll is expected to rise further. Eight injured passengers have been taken to a nearby hospital. The bus was on its way from Guwahati to Tihu.

Local people of the area are helping Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in search and rescue work.

In a second accident, 22 people are said to have suffered serious burn injuries after an oil tanker collided with their bus in Bokakhat near Kaziranga National Park. Rescue operations are on here too.
