CWG Scam: Shunglu panel blames Prasar Bharati CEO BS Lalli for broadcasting rights

The Justice VK Shunglu Committee appointed to look into the Commonwealth Games irregularities on Monday submitted its first set of reports on the investigations conducted so far.

The first report submitted by the Shunglu panel deals with the scam in broadcasting rights.
The panel has laid the blame squarely at door of Prasar Bharati CEO BS Lalli for causing loss worth Rs 135 crore to the exchequer.

Lalli has been accused of favouring private firms in awarding broadcast contracts during the Commonwealth Games.

Prasar Bharati gave contract worth Rs 246 crore to SIS Live, which is in turn being accused of subletting it to Zoom Communications.

Zoom Communications got contract for Rs 177 crore but did work for only Rs 111 crore.

Shunglu Panel is also examining the role of sacked Organising Committee Chief Suresh Kalmadi very closely.
