Housewife allegedly gang-raped at Hyderabad

A 32-year-old housewife was allegedly gang-raped at RC Puram on the outskirts of the city. Though the incident occurred on Friday night, it came to light on Sunday when the complainant mustered enough courage to approach police.

The victim is a daily wage worker from Bandlaguda near RC Puram. As per the complaint, the incident happened at about 7 pm on Friday night when the victim was walking back home from a construction site.

According to RC Puram inspector Sudarshan Reddy, the victim was returning home along with construction supervisor N Balreddy. At an isolated stretch near her home, four men, in an inebriated condition, intercepted them. "As per the complaint, while one of the assailants kept watch on Balreddy, other three men raped the woman," the CI said.

According to the complainant, the accused were not carrying any weapons but managed to overpower Balreddy and the woman.

As her husband was out of station, the victim waited for his return and lodged a complaint with police on Sunday.

A case was registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The victim would be sent for medical examination to a local government hospital and the witness would be examined by police to nab the accused.
